Creating an "Amount off Products" discount in Shopify involves setting up a discount code that offers a fixed amount of money off specific products.
In the Shopify admin dashboard, you will first want to click on Discounts in the left-hand sidebar followed by the Create Discount button in the top right corner.
You will now be asked to select the discount you are looking to create. In this scenario, you will want to click Amount off Products.
You will first need to decide the method you are looking to use to apply this discount. You can either have your customers use a discount code or have the discount automatically applied at the checkout.
The next step is to apply the discount amount the customer will receive for using this offer, you can add a number value and choose if it is a percentage off or a fixed amount.
If you chose a Fixed Amount, you will be able to choose if per product is included or only against one eligible product in the basket
You can then add in the collection(s) or products(s) you wish to include in this discount you are creating.
You will now need to complete the Minimum purchase requirements where you can create the minimum the customer will need to spend or the number of products the customer will need to buy to achieve this discount.
Next, you will be asked to do the Customer eligibility section where you can choose if this is applied to all customers, only certain customer segments or a specific customer(s)
The last three sections relate to whether this discount can only be used a certain amount of times between all customers or if it is a one-off use for the customer. If the discount can be used in conjunction with other discounts you have created and the time the discount will start and if it has an end date.

Creating a "Buy X, Get Y" discount in Shopify is an effective way to encourage customers to purchase more items by offering them a free or discounted product when they buy a certain number of other products

Next, you will be asked to do the Customer eligibility section where you can choose if this is applied to all customers, only certain customer segments or a specific customer(s)
