Overview
Stock Messages allow you the flexibility to attach messages to products. These messages can be displayed at all times or only shown when specific criteria are met.
Creating A Stock Message
To access the creation screen go to Catalogue > Manage Products > Stock Messages. Once there you will see the following screen:
To add a new stock message select Add Stock Message. This will load a new page below:
Not all options are avaialble by default. If you wish to add functionality to this please log a change request, or speak to your account maanger if you require more detail.
Each element of this page has its own purpose:
Stock Message Full Name: Enter the stock message that you want customers to see on the website.
Stock Message Short Name: Enter the name of the stock message as it will be displayed in the admin only (not visible on main website). You can use this name to reference this stock message when adding to products.
Treat as 'in Stock': There are two options in this field, in most cases you should choose Yes, show stock status, graphics and text unless you don’t want your product to display item in stock, in which case you would select No.
Only Show Stock Message on Product Page, when product is not in Stock: Here you can choose whether or not to have your stock message set to only display when the product has ran out of stock. Please note the default stock message will be displayed whilst there is stock.
Hide out of stock products with this stock message: Here you can choose whether the product with this stock message will be hidden or visible from the website once stock has ran out.
Stock Message Status: Here you can choose whether the stock message is active or inactive on the website.
Click on Update to save the stock message.
Applying Stock Messages To Products
You can apply stock messages when editing the product within the Stock & Weights section:
Alternatively, they can be applied in bulk using the Bulk Product Management Tool and CSV.
Summary
